Atul Sharma You heard it from the horse's mouth. 2044-9 billion people-4 billion cars-not enough roads. Bill Ford asks how to solve the traffic congestion problems of the future. Well, here's 2 simple solutions:
1. Car companies to diversify their portfolios and actually spearhead the development of a viable transit solutions.
2. The 5 minute walk neighborhood as the building block of all new development.
Sorry Mr. Ford, your great grandfather was a successful visionary because he envisioned a new sytem of moving people based on the needs of his time. I suggest you do the same as well. 9 billion people don't need individual cars, no matter how smart or clean these machines become.

Bill Ford suffers from techno delusional ignorance. It is amazing that he is considered the most knowledgeable and progressive amongst the big three auto companies. He fails to realize that it is not only the vehicle that creates the emissions and environmental degradation but the entire apparatus that goes along to serve it. Personal vehicles, purported to bring a great deal of flexibility and personal choice, turn out to be quite needy to do so. This is the case no matter if they run on gas, ethanol, hydrogen, or Ford's latest fuel, a mixture of desperate hope and narcissism.
Sorry Bill, we'd love to help you build your technological pipe dream but first we have to pay off the bailout of your industry's failed industrial program.
